Job Description
You will conduct the "structural design" for a new two-story wooden custom house built using traditional post-and-beam construction methods in Japan.※ Specifically, you will focus exclusively on the preliminary phase of structural design known as "structural planning【Job description (details)】- Based on the design drawings sent by the architectural designers at various branches in Japan, you will conduct the preliminary phase of structural design known as "structural planning."- Structural planning involves determining the most efficient locations for columns and shear walls by reviewing the design drawings sent from each branch- This includes ensuring that the required wall quantities and floor ratios are met, as well as satisfying the eccentricity ratio and achieving seismic grade 3.- Plan the foundation layout and beam layout, conducting structural design up to the point of structural calculations.- Structural considerations will be carried out with correct load conditions and accurate modeling.- The company has its own original foundations, shear walls, and floors, so structural design will be conducted according to established manuals.- Other tasks assigned by Manager【Specific Workflow for Structural Planning】- Check the management sheet to review the assigned projects, identify priority projects, and establish a plan for the projects to be worked on today.- Open the data from the branch, review the design drawings, and conduct the structural planning.- Once the structural planning is complete, have a senior colleague perform a preliminary check.- Make revisions while understanding the meaning of the comments (Check back).- After the revisions are complete, email the Japanese reviewer for a secondary check.- Make further revisions while understanding the meaning of the comments (Check back).- Once the revisions are finalized, send the documents to the design staff at the branch via email.- Input the time spent on the project and the number of checks (Check back) into the management sheet and another tracking sheet.【Specific Daily Workflow】- 8:00 AM: Start of the workday, followed by a general morning meeting and team meetings.- 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Conduct structural planning (experienced staff typically handle 3 to 4 projects in a day).- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch break.- 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Continue structural planning (experienced staff typically handle 3 to 4 projects in a day).※There is a weekly team meeting lasting one hour.【Company/Job Attraction】- Their business of the parent company in Japan is performing well and the orders from Japan is increasing now- Their office has a comfortable and friendly atmosphere- Other Japanese companies primarily focus on drafting, so having experience in structural design can lead to career advancement.
